Nancy Thompson is an Iowa native who was raised in the rural towns of central Iowa and who raised her family in the rural west central Iowa town of Coon Rapids. She has always had a talent for drawing but did not pursue it seriously until, in her early 30's, she started taking classes and workshops at which time she began to uncover her love for art and to develop her talent. This led to a BFA degree in Fine Arts from Iowa State University in 2001 and the development of a professional art studio. Recently she made the decision to pursue an advanced degree and she is currently enrolled full time in the Master of Fine Arts program at Iowa State University majoring in Integrated Arts where she is a Teaching Assistant and scholarship recipient. Her goal is to be both a professional artist and a teacher of painting and drawing at the workshop and college-level .
